Set inside a restored Sino-Portuguese school building from the 1930s, Thai Hua Museum is one of the best places to understand how Phuket became Phuket. The exhibits walk you through Hokkien Chinese migration, the tin boom that pulled workers to the island, and how Baba (Peranakan) culture grew into its own identity here. Expect photo-rich rooms, everyday objects, and simple storytelling that gives real context before you explore Old Town’s streets, shophouses, and shrines.
