Freedom Beach

Rests in a hidden cove south of Patong, a bright sweep of fine white sand wrapped by jungle and granite headlands. There is no direct road to the bay, which keeps it wonderfully quiet. In the dry season most visitors arrive by longtail boat across clear, turquoise water; during the monsoon the sea often becomes too rough and services pause. The headlands at both ends shelter calm pockets for easy snorkeling, where reef fish drift over rocks in shallow sunlight. Facilities are minimal, with a simple beach shack serving cold drinks and classic Thai dishes, so the scene stays blissfully uncluttered.
